Director of Hospitality Operations

Department: Resort Operations-Mgmt
Office: Coral Reef Beach Resort
Location: St. Pete Beach, FL

The Director of Hospitality is responsible for the overall operation and profitability of the designated resorts in their region through adherence to brand standards and effective leadership of all departments.

  • Increases management's effectiveness by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining managers; communicating values, strategies, and objectives; assigning accountabilities; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; developing incentives; developing a climate for offering information and opinions; and providing educational opportunities.
  • Resolve issues that the department heads/managers cannot handle, receive and resolve, or assist in resolving guest complaints and personnel issues
  • Responsible for representing Capital Vacations with the highest level of personal and professional integrity and character.
  • Ensure all resorts within their region meet Capital Vacations and industry standards of excellence.
  • Approves annual budgets consistent with the expectations set forth by the board of directors and Vice President of Operations in advance of the established Budget Meeting Dates.
  • Reviews monthly financial statements and makes necessary operational changes to adhere to budgetary guidelines.
  • Take effective action to control costs without sacrificing quality and service, including daily review of the revenue and payroll reports from the resorts
  • Join local industry-affiliated organizations that may be beneficial to the property or the company as a whole
  • Review, monitor, and improve guest service scores and ensure that resorts achieve top rankings within their respective brands.
  • Ensure completion of reserve and extensive maintenance projects are on schedule and within budget, including PM maintenance programs for all resorts.
  • Develop long-term operational and reserve plans for resorts supporting the company's objectives.
  • Acts as a primary Capital Vacations liaison for General Managers, onsite team members, the board of directors, vendors, contractors, insurance agencies, and other site-specific contacts.
  • Conduct routine property visits to ensure brand standards and corporate compliance while maintaining written documentation with attention to follow-up.
  • To be aware of and ensure adherence to all factors relating to safety and health, ensuring timely completion of meetings, training, and pertinent documentation under company policy, brand standards, and federal and state regulations.
  • Approve all mailings to the associations within the designated resorts in their region.
  • Become familiar with and operate within Capital Vacations Policies & Procedures, the individual resort Controlling Documents (Declaration, Master Deed & Bylaws), and federal and state laws that may apply.
  • Perform any other duties required to ensure proper property operations or budget adherence.

Education, Essential Training/Certifications, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent Industry job-related experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in hotel/resort operations at a property of similar size and quality

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Performance Management, Staffing, Management Proficiency, Coordination, Coaching, Developing Standards, Financial Planning and Strategy, Process Improvement, Decision Making, Strategic Planning, and Quality Management.
